Former Brazilian Defense Minister Aldo Rebelo has reportedly told Jesse Michels that both the Colares and Varginha UFO cases happened.

Michels, known for American Alchemy, recently posted that he interviewed Rebelo, who previously served as Brazil’s Minister of Defense and also as President of Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies. According to Michels, Rebelo said that both Colares and Varginha were real events. That is a significant claim if accurately represented.

Rebelo is not a random commentator. As a former defense minister, he held a senior position in Brazil’s political and defense establishment. That does not automatically prove the claims, but it does make the statement more important than a casual opinion from an outside observer.

The two cases he reportedly discussed are among the most important UFO cases in Brazilian history.

The Colares case, also known as Operation Prato or Operation Saucer, involved a Brazilian Air Force investigation in 1977 into repeated UFO sightings and alleged “Chupa-Chupa” light attacks in Pará. Witnesses reported strange lights, physical effects, and beam-like encounters. The case later became known internationally because of military documentation, photographs, film claims, and testimony from Captain Uyrangê Hollanda, the officer who led the operation on the ground.

Varginha is one of Brazil’s most famous alleged crash and retrieval cases. The 1996 incident is usually described as involving a possible UFO event, alleged non-human beings, civilian witnesses, military and police activity, and claims that material or bodies were moved out of Brazil, possibly to the United States. The case received renewed global attention after James Fox’s documentary Moment of Contact.

There is an important caveat.

The key issue is not only whether Rebelo said “Colares and Varginha happened,” but what he meant by that.

Was he speaking from classified knowledge, secondhand information, personal belief, or political awareness?

Did he mention documents, military files, witnesses, names, or official records?

Did he discuss possible U.S. involvement in the Varginha case?

And most importantly, will the full interview provide evidence, or only a high-level confirmation claim?

Even with those cautions, the statement is notable. If a former Brazilian Defense Minister is willing to say on camera that Colares and Varginha happened, then Brazil may become one of the most important countries to watch in the global disclosure conversation.

The reason is simple: these are not minor folklore stories. They are two major cases involving witnesses, military interest, public controversy, and decades of unanswered questions.

For now, the responsible position is to wait for the full interview while treating the claim as significant but not yet fully established.
